I thought exercise would get easier the longer you did it!

Friday, March 09, 2012

So I have been steadily walking at least 3 times a week, from 3 to 4 miles each time I walk. I have been doing this since January 2011.
I usually do more but I aim for 3. I also walk the dog about 12 miles a week, according to my dog walking app. My walking intensity varies, I sometimes jog, I always get a good sweat. When DH is able he walks with me and we usually do at least 6 miles. He's been working in Miami so no walks with him in a few months.

This morning I woke about 7am, first thing I thought "I need to walk early today, I have a lot to do." Then all the lazy thoughts of "Do it later, skip today, what's the big deal" then the pro-s and con's of walking inside on the treadmill, or outside. That internal dialog where half of you is trying to talk the other half into doing something while the other half is telling you to "Just make some coffee, sit down and check your email". The trick is to not let the lazy thoughts take root, don't dwell on them and just get your butt up, geared up and out the door!

I don't like the treadmill because at the slightest twinge of foot pain or or tiredness its to easy to just get off. If your 3 miles from home, your walking no matter what!

Today was really tough. My body kept telling me to "Just sit down on the next utility box for a couple minutes". I just kept telling my feet to "Keep moving!" Listening to Dr. Oz reading "You on a diet was not working"
I'd already done my "7 minute Chakra tuneup"
So I put on the "Work out" playlist. That pepped me up a bit, but it was just a really rough 4 miles today. I guess I'm just not fully charged up after being sick last week.

Last night me and the "kids" (18 & 24 year old) went to Chick Fil-a for dinner. I had a their regular chicken sandwich with tomatoes & lettuce, split a waffle fry with the boy, we both brought a bottle of water from home to avoid soda.
The daughter was drinking a strawberry milkshake, Gawd their shakes are SO good! But they are also like 700 calories!
I wanted to get one but the boy said, " You don't want to do that" yes I did but I got the fruit parfait instead. Sometimes its good to have help!
