I reached my highest weight ever in January 2011: 207 pounds. I had been trying to ignore that my clothes were getting tighter but that weigh-in at the doctor's office could not be ignored. A few weeks after that I started making small dietary changes such as using more artificial sweetener and cutting back on junk food.
I joined a gym in May 2011 and starting going there 3 or 4 times a week. By the time Thanksgiving came I was down to 187 pounds. I managed to maintain this weight over the holidays but began slacking off on going to the gym.
I needed some help to get my motivation back. My older sister suggested adding Sensa to my food, but I'm not a fan of that type of product. Fortunately in February 2012 I found sparkpeople.com. The social tools and trackers have really helped me to refocus on my goals. I had never tracked my food intake consistently before and it's been an eye-opener. With the help of this site, I'm down 5 pounds in 3 weeks and have recommended the site to a number of co-workers.
I'm hoping to get down to a BMI in the normal range by year's end. Mostly I just want to feel better. Think I'm off to a good start so far.
