Are my pants too tight?

I put on an older pair of jeans this morning to see how I was doing without the scale. I've been wearing 16w for a while now and these were a plain 16. It doesn't really sound like much, but I haven't worn these jeans for a very long time.

I've been stuck in the low digits of my current 10's digit, sorta. Last weekend my daughter (who's 21st birthday is today!) was home from college for the weekend. Needless to say there was celebrating going on with a completely decadent chocolate cake. There's no such thing as one piece of chocolate cake. I was 0.6 on Friday and went up to 2.6 by Monday. I've spent the week eating on the lower end of my fat range and going to the gym each day. I didn't especially want to go today, but I don't want to step on that scale again quite yet.

So today, I'm trying to measure how I'm doing other than on the scale. I pulled these jeans and decided to try them on. Up went the jipper. On went the button. They were on. AND they weren't even tight! Boy did that feel good!! I have been going to the gym regularly since November and started with SparkPeople 4 weeks ago. This was my first non-scale victory. I still didn't want to get on that scale, though.

One of my short term goals is to wear my size 14 jeans. I am going to pull those out of the closet very soon!

    The scale is not everything. Muscle weighs more than fat so if you gain muscle you might actually weigh more but you will be smaller. Just remember that you weight will fluctuate about 7 pounds over the course of a week because of water in your system. Good luck.
