Workout Buddies

Tuesday, March 06, 2012

For the past week my kids, 5.5 year old boy & 4 year old girl, have been joining me for my workouts. I enjoy Leslie Sansone's walking aerobics. Having them do the 1 or 2 mile walk with me is actually really fun! They ask me if we can exercise now...honestly I'm really thankful because they have helped me be more consistent. They usually get bored a few minutes in (sometimes they surprise me & do the whole workout) but getting started is the hard part for me. I want them to have a good attitude about exercise, so when they want to do it, I do it. I always tell them to listen to their bodies, take a break if they need to, and join in again if they want. And they look so cute doing sidesteps and walking in place. :)

Aw how sweet! What super motivation! Good for you or teaching them such healthy habits.

Wow, what a wonderful example you're setting! I wish my parents had placed emphasis on exercise and fitness when I was a kid instead of school school school all the time and no regard for the body at all.

Hey! How did i miss this blog?! This is GREAT! I love that you get your kids involved with your workouts. There are so many reasons why this is awesome, the first being that you are helping them develop a love and desire to exercise and be healthy. The second being you get to spend time with them while doing something for yourself. The #1 reason I struggle with keeping up with a workout routine is that I miss my kids too much while I am at the gym. To a lot of moms that may sound corny, but I work all day and the kids are involve din extra curricular stuff and the little time we DO have together is precious. I miss them when we aren't together and it makes it difficult to finish a workout. THANK YOU for sharing this! It's inspired me to get outside more and get my kids to exercise with me. Have a great day and keep up the great work!
