Did something bold

Tuesday, March 06, 2012

I was brainstorming yesterday morning on what things would really help me lose 10 pounds by the end of April. There were the usual things, but the one that stuck out was accountability. It made me think about Weight Watchers again, but then I thought, "I can do the same things on Spark, except for the personal accountability part". I've tried getting fitness buddies before, and I've had a hard time finding someone who really stuck it out with me.

So I did something bold. I posted something about my goal on Facebook for all my friends, past employees, family, high school friends, etc. to see. I said I'd post daily about exercise, whether I'd logged food and stayed in my calorie ranges, and asked for support and advice. Boy, did I get a lot of supportive comments! Not that I didn't think I would, but it made me feel good and less scared to have done that. In fact, several friends said they were doing it right there with me!

I was proud I put my goal out there like that, and it's a great motivator. Woohoo!

Right on! I have been considering "coming out" on FB, lol... Accountability and support are so important (I learned that here, for sure), and if we can't reach out to our friends, then who?
