Have you noticed the QUALITY of food in the grocery stories have deteriorated?

Have you noticed there is MORE variety?

When DH and I go grocery shopping we look at the fine print. For example: one item said, "Pomegranate and Cherry juice" the fine print's first ingredient, "High Fructose Corn Syrup."

I have noticed! If you don't read labels it is very hard to make good choices. There are great articles on SP about how to really read a food label and they have helped me. It also helps when you eat little to no processed food.

I totally hear you on this. My husband was having a fit for that reason. He was in the hospital being fed by I.V's and then the hospital puts him on a liquid diet: jello, juice, Popsicle (corn syrups) & too salty broth (bouillon). So he refused to eat it & asked them to make him a fruit smoothie instead.

I wholeheartedly agree! A year or so ago we were purchasing a lot of the inexpensive store-band frozen and canned veggies, soups, meals, etc to save money - but then I started to look at the labels! Ingredient lists a mile long with chemicals, colorants, flavor enhancers and fillers - yuck!

These days we're a bit better off and able to shop organic for the most part - and are even able to hit up Whole Foods every once in a while. I've also started to concentrate on creating and eating plant-based meals for most of the week. I really enjoy eating home-cooked meals because I know what's in them!

As far as the deteriorating quality of clothing - don't EVEN get me started on the recent quality of underwear and socks! My new pet peeve!

I remember buying some frozen waffles once from the big warehouse home with them em and THEN read the label....only to find that sugar was the first ingredient. At the time, I had gestational diabetes. So, I promptly threw them out. Still stinging from that one.

I agree. I don't buy juice or canned veggies anymore. I can spend hours just reading the labels. It's amazing the amount of hidden sugars and salt that are in these products!

Personally, I think the QUALITY of most everything has deteriorated!

I don't know about more variety?!? I'm trying to learn to keep out of the aisles and shop the exterior parts of the grocery store. And I TRY to keep to my shopping list! (I can't afford to do differently.)

I agree and I think it is true with other things like clothes.
