Well March Madness is officially upon us…there are so many changes that have happened in our household! Can you believe it is March already!?
I guess I should start by talking about the love of my life…the man I call my husband. 15 months ago, he decided he was done smoking. After 20 years of smoking, he put his mind to it and quit. I am SO PROUD of him! Well, when he stopped smoking the pounds started creeping up on for him. I was fine with it…he stopped smoking! THEN, after 10 years of working evening and morning (midnight-8am) shifts, he finally went to days! This was life changing for us! Sounds crazy, I know! It should have been simple! We were going to be home like “normal” folks! For 10 years, I have done it all with the kids. School functions, football, dance, homework, baths, and bedtime…usually alone! I have never complained. I knew what his job entailed when I married him. But I also got used to sleeping by myself too!
He came in wanting to do things his way and we all have our set schedules! It was rough! He just got into the routine of eating dinner, sitting on the couch having a few beers! I saw mad…fuming actually!
I saw him getting bigger and not wanting to do anything about it! He would complain that his clothes didn’t fit but yet, here he sat night after night drinking beer not doing anything about it! But I knew if I said anything, I wouldn’t make things any better. He would continue to do what he was doing. Then one day out of nowhere, he said he wanted to change the way we were eating. He was only going to drink beer on the weekends. YAY ME!! He helps me with meal planning, grocery shopping, we pack lunches everynight and cook dinner together. Well what do you know that 2 weeks after doing that, he announces that he wants us to join a gym…double yay me!!! It is now on like Donkey Kong!!!
Spring Football starts in a few weeks for the boys but we have devised a workout schedule so we can go in the morning! My daughter is excited to be my gym partner when her dad is too busy to go!
As far as WHAT we are eating….I have not eliminated anything from the diet. If I want a piece of chocolate, I am going to eat it. Everything in moderation. We aren’t eating out. The one time we did, we picked up Subway. It is so great to be cooking and spending so much time in the kitchen talking about our day. It has been such a blessing!
Craig usually has a salad-Light Italian Dressing with chicken breast for lunch.
Lunch: 3 Turkey slices, organic carrots and 1 whole organic tomato & ½ avocado
Tonight for dinner: Salmon and ½ cup of wild rice with green beans.
