Sweater - DONE (*waves to MRSSCHENCK*)

Sunday, March 04, 2012

My first sweater is finished. The first photo shows the color more truly (I do not claim to be a photographer). No modeled shots because, sadly, it does not fit well. My tension changed over the course of the project (knitters / crocheters will understand, I can elaborate if necessary). Suffice to say the stitches became a bit bigger, so one side of the project grew. I'm fairly certain that it would have fit perfectly if tension had been maintained.

But it's done. The pattern is super easy and available at Ravelry.com (free to sign-up, if you aren't already a member): www.ravelry.com/patterns
/library/rhadamanthys

It's luscious and cannot wait to fix my boo-boos to make it public-worthy!

Cute!!! This was my "year of the sweater," as well - feels great to finally finish one, doesn't it?

I wouldn't stress too much about it being a little bigger/longer on one side - it's just "arty." :) Maybe fold the one side down and secure with a super-gorgeous shawl pin?

Good for you! I never knit sweaters because I am terrible about gauge, and I hate finishing projects. I'll have to check this out--I am all for things that don't require sewing together!!

Congratulations on the first sweater! You should get yourself a nice pin for it to celebrate.

Going to go check out the pattern on Rav! I get more ideas from others' stuff than from my own browsing.

@LLTS01 - I think blocking might actually make it worse (tho I agree that it often fixes problems). I changed needles midway (nickel to wood) because the stitches kept jumping off and running away. I suspect that stickier needles meant I carried the yarn more loosely.

@MRSSCHENCK - The pattern is super easy (even "Trish-proof," as I like to say); all garter (knit) stitch, no seams and shaping is done via short rows. Any easier and this sweater would knit itself.

emoticon on completing your first sweater! It's absolutely beautiful. I can't even wrap my mind around attempting to make one.

I'm stuck in my comfort zone of scarves, afghans and as my teacher has reminded me...socks.

I wonder if there will be a sweater in my future...

It's absolutely beautiful. Have you blocked it? You can fix a lot with blocking.
