I was at the Y when they opened this morning at 8. Usually I meet my running partner but it was still raining this morning so I did a free weight workout and LOTS of time on the stretch trainer.
After my workout I went to the office to change clothes and go to a baby shower at church. Lots of yummy looking stuff that I've given up for Lent, so I stuck to the veggies and fruit. I made guacamole (the mom-to-be's favorite). I used veggies for dipping so I could save my calories for more guacamole!
By the time the shower was over and the clean-up was done, it was close to 1. I went back to the office to change into my running clothes and veg for an hour then headed for my race. It's a 6k. I was pretty happy to hit 1 mile at less than 9:30 (a 10 minute mile is a tough pace for me to maintain). At the 2 mile I was still under 20 minutes. At the 3 mile I was right at 30:30. The last part of the course is uphill. I crossed the finish line at 38:01. Pretty good for me on a 3.75 mile race. (And a big "THANK YOU GOD" for stopping the rain!)

My award is a ceramic arrowhead (the race is to support a middle school swim team, the Red Skins).
I was STARVING on my way home. I had some Chick-fil-A coupons from previous races but I couldn't find them. I guess that was a sign to skip the fast food (even though Chick-fil-A does have some healthy options that I love). I came home and ate some of the rice and beans I made earlier in the week. The rice is actually Kashi 7 Whole Grain Pilaf...really healthy and YUMMY!
I was so tired after I ate. All of my muscles felt tight and sore. I soaked in a warm bath with some Epsom salts. After that, I couldn't keep my eyes open. I fell asleep on the sofa for a few hours and woke up about 9:30. Still had enough time to get to CVS before they closed and make a Kroger run to get the weekly specials before they end. I thought about taking care of that on the way home from the race, but I try to avoid the grocery store when I'm hungry.
now I'm sipping some chamomile tea and watching The Glenn Miller Story. I need to go back to sleep and be ready for another busy day tomorrow (that includes a 5k).
