CtC: T-minus 77 days

Saturday, March 03, 2012

Wow.. okay, so I haven't blogged every day.. had Thursday and Friday off..but I can honestly say I have been using my papertracker AND etools every day. Right now as it stands I've earned 27 activity points (GOD I love running for earning activity points!) and I'm at 39 weekly points left out of the 49 I started with.

A peek at my home scale shows +2, but I'm not worried considering my monthly "friend" put in an appearance starting yesterday. So chances are good that will be gone before Tuesday.. as long as I don't see-saw up again. If I DO, I am showing my tracker to my leader... I'm determined to get this number to move consistently downwards.

Points Target: 28
Breakfast:
thomas light english muffin....3 points... 25 remaining
2t olive oil......2 points........23 remaining
1/2c egg beaters....1 point....22 remaining
1c skim milk....2 points...20 remaining
coffee w/splenda.........0 points....20 remaining

lunch:
big salad....0 points....20 remaining
3oz chicken breast....3 points....17 remaining
2tbsp regular (full fat) honey mustard dressing.... 4 points....13 remaining
**I left my fat-free dressing at home, so I had to go with what was here at work .. luckily I had left this bottle in the fridge..and I did measure it! ;)
1c skim milk...2 points.... 11 remaining

lifesavers 1serv....2 points....9 remaining

chicken leg w/skin...4 points? according to etools!.....5 remaining
green giant broc and cheese... I think I had less than 1 serv, but counting a full serv anyway... 2 points...3 remaining

WW ice cream toffee crunch bar.... 3points...0 remaning

Weeklies remaining: 39
activity points earned so far: 27

One other thing... I am researching other hydration systems, 'cause my belt with two 10 oz bottles is not enough during a longish run... I could have used more on that 8 mile run on Sunday.. looking at
Nathan Intensity Women's Hydration Vest www.runningwarehouse.com

... but then I think "what? You think you need that much or that sort of thing.." and I start to feel like a phoney/not a real runner/not deserving of this sort of stuff. How weird is that?

I was using a Camel Pak when I was out in Cali, but I agree with APED7969, it was pretty hot, so my back was drenched in that area where the bag sat. It also annoyed me, it was literally like running with a back pack (which it is, it's just filled with water), the constant bouncing irritated my shoulders and if I had on short sleeved shirts it chafed my inner arm, so I would avoid that. I like What Ruby_Tuesday21 suggested. A belt sounds like something you are already used to, and you could have 2 extra bottles with you for your longer runs.
Good luck finding a solution. And if it means anything, I think you totally sound like a runner, so you deserve to get/carry anything that runners do. Keep kicking butt!!!

I found a belt at TJ Maxx that had 4 8-oz bottles, but I have yet to take it out for a test run. I usually have the stroller with me, so I just use the cup holders for a couple of water bottles. The belt was only $10, though, and I cannot pass up a deal :)

everyone needs water when they run, probably more so if you are a bit slower as you are out there for a bit longer. And anyone who runs 8miles is a real runner! :-) I love my amphoid belt, it carries up to 4 8oz bottle and has a pouch. I can add or remove bottles depending on the length of my run. I have read the vest or backpacks can be heavy and hot. I didn't try one because I am hot enough when I run over here!
