Have you ever heard of a sugar addiction? I always thought that was hyperbole. No one can be addicted to sugar. Right?
I had minor surgery last month (I'm doing great - thanks!) and had to lay low for a week. I was bored out of my mind b/c I had to limit physical activity: no lifting, no bending, no exertion. That meant I had time on my hands, along with lots and lots of sugar residue. I had kicked the sugar habit until mid February. I "discovered" what has been written, told and retold a zillion times. Eating sweets causes cravings for more sweets. One treat requires a companion treat. I found myself foraging for sugary snacks. So, I gained two pounds in one week. Yikes!
So, for Lent, I'm giving up sugar again. And I'm giving up those 2 pounds of fat I put on around my waist. So far, so good - I've lost one of the two pounds this week.
I forgot what I always knew. Sugar causes rapid weight gain. Be careful, my friends!
