Training For Ergatta

Wednesday, February 29, 2012

An ergatta is an indoor competition, using ergometers (rowing machines). I will compete in the Masters 60+ group on March 11th in Brighton (Rochester), NY. Last year I competed with one other lady who was 80 years old. I got a gold medal; she got the silver. We were the only 2 competing in that age group. And we had the lowest scores of the day! The race is a 2 K (2000 meters). It took me 12+ minutes last year. I would just like to do it in 11 minutes this year. I do it mostly for fun, but it is not fun when it is happening. It is extremely hard. It takes all I've got! The same lady that raced last year is racing again. She's my friend, so we go into it with the idea that it's just fun to do. But I might not medal this year. A woman from Ann Arbor is registered to race!
