Clothes for the Excessively Tall

Tuesday, February 28, 2012

I am 5'9" tall (about 175cm) and very slender, and above all, LONG LEGGED. I need a minimum of 34" (86 cm) inseams if I don't want to look like I'm expecting a flood. Buying jeans and dress pants is an ongoing drama for me, but always solvable by throwing money at the problem.

Workout clothes, however, remained a problem. Even Land's End, who make excellent tall women's clothes, only go to 31 or 32 inches in their knit pants and workout wear. And men's are not an option for my size and shape.

I'm really amazed to report this, but OLD NAVY has saved the day for me. Not only are they carrying denim in both LONG (34" inseam, regular sizing) and TALL (36" inseam, longer rise) and TALL t-shirts and blouses, but they also have two styles of TALL yoga pants. As a bonus, both have a MSRP of $20 or less.

I haven't received mine yet, but the relief is incredible. It's still to cold here to go outside in shorts so I've been doing cardio in jeans - definitely not optimal. I can't wait to try out my new yoga pants.

I'll even be thrilled if I have to hem them. After all, there are taller women than I out there!

Say what you want about Vikkie's, at least they make clothes that will actually fit their tall, thin models!

I LOVE Old Navy workout clothing; affordable and fashionable for the fraction of the price of Lululemon/Lucy/Athleta... I also like Champions ( you can find them at Target)...if you're still looking for yoga pants, I have a friend that swears by Victoria's Secret brand. emoticon
