So last Friday I blogged about how my husband and I are making changed. And I am happy to report: I am doing great. I don't have a scale at my house, so I can't tell you if I have lost weight, but here is what i DO know: i have been doing really good on my calories: most days I am below my limit, only one day was I over, and that was by about 100 (the day before I was under by 600, so I still feel ok with that).
Here are a few things that help me to stay on track:
1) Yeah, its expensive, but I buy prepacked fruit to take to the office. I go to the grocery store and pick up a tub of strawberries, blueberries, melon, ect. Its already cleaned and sliced. You just open and enjoy.
2) I found that my local Albertson's has a good salad bar where you pay for salad by the pound. I go there and make an amazing salad for around $7.00 - lean chicken breast included. If I am low on my caloires that day, I add a sprinkling (and I do mean sprinkling; about 40 calories worth each) of bacon and cheese for flavor and the added fat to keep the full feeling last longer. But I skip on high fat dressing. Most of my salads range in calories from around 300 to a top of 400 - including bacon, cheese and low cal dressing. This even included a side of the fruit I was talking about earlier.
I am trying to figure out which is the best iPhone calorie app - I have Sparkpeople which i like, Loseit! which i love the barscan feature, and tap and track. They each have different calorie levels, which drives me nuts!
