Pre-Workout Boost

Monday, February 27, 2012

Three days a week I go to the gym with a co-worker. We are always excited to go and come back refreshed, clear-headed and often sweaty. She is a big fan of the after workout protein shake. I haven't been able to get into those yet because I don't like anything that resembles a milk shake. I don't enjoy the texture.

A week or so ago I was talking to my chiropractor about my weight loss and discovered that he was a personal trainer. He recommended I look into pre-workout supplements to help boost metabolism and whatnot.

Somehow I mentioned this to my co-worker and she went out and got us those 5-hour energy drinks. I decided to give it a shot (no pun intended) to see if it would help my workout.

It did nothing.

I am hoping that it was just a waste of four dollars. I didn't get the gitters, I didn't go crazy and start running in place or anything like that. Nothing happened. Let's hope that bad boy doesn't kick in around bedtime because I will be really pissed if it does.

I think I need to do more research on pre-workout supplements, but I can say with a clear mind that I won't be investing in 5-hour energy drinks anymore.
