The GAR and Catchin' Up

First of all, it was great meeting MOEMOORE, LORIENABANANA, and HEALTHYSLIM2 after The Great Aloha Run. I enjoyed meeting the people behind the posts, and congrats to MOEMOORE on her best time for the GAR. I posted my time in my status up-date that afternoon (2:20), and then I got sucked into grocery shopping and other routine chores. When I got home and tried to go back on-line, I couldn’t get on! I was hoping that problem was fixed when I had the mother board replaced, but after much back and forth with the computer tech support and my ISP tech support, I found out it is a problem with Windows Vista, and I need to go to the Microsoft site to fix it. So I either have to wait and see if my comp will magically connect again, or wait until I can get access to another comp and download the fix onto a thumb drive. AAAARRRRRGGGGG! Hopefully, it is fixed now, because I am not sure I downloaded the right thing.
So, time to catch up. I really feel a sense of accomplishment in doing the GAR. I plan to do it again next year, and I would like to work on running. I still don’t like to run, but I look at it as an exercise in pushing my boundaries and discipline. I won’t be able to do more that a moderate walk for a while, though. After the race, I knew I had bruised at least one of my toes. When I got home and saw my left big toe, I knew the nail was going to come off. Tuesday was spent taking my mom for a needle biopsy (which came back negative, thank you Heavenly Father) and minor errands. I wore sandals because I could not get my foot into a closed shoe. That evening my toe was soooo swollen and tender (Ick alert here) that I soaked it in Epsom salts for an hour and forced the nail to come up. I cut it away and applied Neosporin ointment. Talk about a major relief, but it was still to tender to force into a closed shoe, so other than the GAR, I haven’t exercised. (I did follow up with my podiatrist on Friday, to make sure I didn’t do something stupid, and he said it looked fine) Today is the first day that I have been able to wear a shoe. I still feel a little tender, and I would not like to try a power walk or running for a few more days, but I should be able to at least get moving.
I haven’t been great about my food. I find that the tracker really helps me to be accountable. In my warped mind, if I can’t put it on the tracker, then it doesn’t count. Well, when I step on the scale tomorrow, I’ll see how much it DOES count. So, hopefully I haven’t done too much damage.
My Bday is in 3 weeks, and I want to be less than 180 by then. If I am really good, maybe even under 175. I just want to be able to wear all the nice clothes I bought myself when I first started to work as a secretary and could throw out the scrubs. I feel like I have been wearing the same three outfits for the last two months, because I put all this weight back on. I also got some nice wedge heels, but the extra 20 pounds is just too much weight to carry when I am not used to wearing heels.
I have 1,101 fitness minutes so far, this month. I was really hoping to get 2,000, but I don’t think I can, thanks to my toe. I am going to get 1,500. I have 4 days, and it is definitely do-able.
