Note to self: There are certain foods that you MAY NOT EAT OUT OF THE BAG. Pistachios have officially made the list. Last week I bought a big bag of pistachios because they sounded like a healthy snack to grab when I'm running out the door. Tonight I sat down to watch a movie and had the munchies. I figured I'd go get the bag and splurge a little by having "a little bit more" than my usual small handful.
Fast forward 30 minutes.
My stomach is suddenly not feeling too good and I decide to put the bag away. I notice that my pile of shells is much bigger than I had thought. Out of morbid curiosity, I decide to count the shells. 302. That means that I ate 151 pistachios in one sitting. After a horrified dash to the computer and a google search, I now know that that equals about 1200 calories and 98 grams of fat.
That was an expensive (calorie-wise) lesson learned.
