Those cute little girls are dangerous!

Thursday, February 23, 2012

They got me in the grocery store: Girl Scouts. Those hopeful, smiling faces. How could I resist?

I limited myself to two boxes: one Samoas and one Tagalongs. I brought them home yesterday. There are only five Samoas left today.

But *I* haven't eaten a single one. Hubby has mowed through these cookies at an alarming rate. I feel sort of bad, because I led him into temptation. He has a sweet tooth, but usually more control than that! But I forgot that he's just gotten over being sick, and he is more likely to overindulge then.

A friend just called to ask if we wanted some GS cookies. I wrestled the phone away from him, yelling "No!!" He sheepishly agreed that I was right.

too bad they don't make some great crackers, I would buy them, but I'm done buying the cookies! NO more, I can eat entire package of the mint ones before you even know they are "there."

Oh yes, those GS are everywhere. My son asked if he could buy some cookies - ugh. So far, no cookies. I can't help but think when the girls see a fat lady (me), coming out of Walmart, if they are thinking 'jackpot!' I always turn them down though.

I have several Girl Scouts in my family and always buy. And then stash in the freezer. I'm one of those "out of sight out of mind" people who CAN keep junk food in the house. Because I forget its there.

But you picked two of my favorites! Throw in some thin mints and you have a DEAL.

I get to shop during the day, during the week - so I never see them!

I steeled myself today when I went to the store. There was an SUV in the parking lot that had "Honk if you love Girl Scouts" written on the back window with shoe polish, so I expected them to be set up and selling. I had decided that I would hand over a cash donation... but not take any cookies. That, by the way, is not my original idea... some people used to do that when my son was a scout and had to sell popcorn.

Luckily, there wasn't a cookie table set up there, so it didn't come to pass, but at least I have my plan in place!!!
