Lenten Resolve

Why do I always wait till Ash Wednesday to make my Lenten resolution? Just kind of creeps up on me I suppose. In the past I have given up meat, (not so hard) sodas, (was really hard, but I have weaned myself from them completely now) and computer solitaire (never even think about it anymore) I've also done positive things like going to a weekday Mass once a week (which I now do regularly) Share a meal with friends once a week (did that last year. I made a foreign vegetarian meal Friday evening and them we all went to The Stations of the Cross afterwards. We ALL loved that one! The recipes I found were from all over the world and were amazing!) So this year I got to thinking. I really can't give up meat as I will be traveling much of Lent and that might present too many problems. I'm already off sodas. I will cook for friends for the weeks I will be in town (that great foreign veggie site is no longer available :( ) but I wanted to do something positive. I thought about how I am now going to 3 exercise classes a week at the Rec Center and how much better I feel when I move, so I've decided to put my energy into myself. I decided that I will be doing some sort of exercise video every day. When traveling, I will take my DVD player and resistance bands, and choose a chair exercise video (since I will be on a cruise ship and cabin space is very limited so the chair stuff will be fine.) I will also try to get in my 8 glasses of water each day. I've been kind of sloughing off on that for a while now. So water and exercise will be my sack cloth and ashes till Easter. And hopefully I will break that .5 to 2.5 pounds over goal weight that I have been fighting since summer. From my lips to God's ear!

    Good luck and enjoy your cruise.... I bet you will find some fun ways to exercise on the ship as well... Being good to yourself is really important but sometimes to hard for us to do!
