Weird perception of self

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

Is it just me or do other people think they look like this

but in reality, when they look in the mirror, they realise that they have a flabby tummy, seriously slack thighs, etc etc? When I eat well and exercise the amount I aim for, in my head I look fab (maybe it's all the endorphins?) but can't seem to match this picture with what I look like in a mirror. I suppose I have lost (and gained and lost again!) 5 stone (50 - 55 lbs). Normally distorted perception of self occurs the other way round with people who are skinny or perfectly 'normal' and yet see themselves as humongous. What I would like to know is when my body will match the image my head!

    Probably never?
I'm not trying to be a downer or anything, but I'm pretty sure no one ever thinks that the image in the mirror and the image in their head adds up completely. Some days it will be your weight and another it's your hair or your skin or whatever. I don't necessarily think this is bad unless it's REALLY distorted, it's just the norm!

I guess we will see the truth when we start being honest with ourselves.
