Running Tights?

Wednesday, February 22, 2012

To all my fellow running sparkers--

Do any of you have a favorite pair of running tights?

I'm looking at picking up a pair and have been thinking about the CW-X brand. I love the idea of extra joint, ligament, and core support especially as I start ramping up the mileage.

Does anyone have pros/cons for me?

All help is appreciated!

I like the reebok dri-fit, very comfortable and pretty warm though the winter has been pretty mild. I also have a pair of champion capris, very comfortable.

I have Reebok and Underarmor tights. And capris from Old Navy (and seriously these are my favorite, but haven't tried their longer tights yet).

Reebok - relatively inexpensive and the sporting goods store by me has Reebok on sale a LOT. Fit well, not too tight in the waist.

UA - awesome, about $50/pair, warmer than the Reebok for cold days. Downside - they are fairly low rise and give me one heck of a muffin top. Serious dislike for that reason. Good for temps below 20*F.

Try to try different pairs on to see how you like fit, compression/non-compression (mine are a mix and I like both on different days), low-rise, high-rise, thickness of pants, etc. Most are specifically labeled cold weather and cold compression. Good luck!

    I have never tried them.

I have a pair of the CW-X brand and I really like the support. On cold days I use them with compression briefs and compression socks or sleeves. I get the warmth I need without the bulk.

I also have a pair of Under Armour tights that I really like that are a little heavier.

I wear leggings (not sure if the tights have the feet in them or not) and a few different brands. I like the tightness around my legs but not too binding/tight around my stomach. The lycra and polyester fabric ones are my favorite. I have multiple brands and all are nice to wear running indoors and out on long or short runs. Underarmour makes nice leggings and there are many knockoff brands. I wash and dry mine in the machines. I would try them on and see how they fit you. You don't want a pair that is going to ride up :P I am a small woman and can fit into the youth size L.

I'll be watching the responses you get. All mine are fleeced and I really want a non-fleeced pair.
