Hello again Spark Friends!! I want to share some of the wonderful changes that have come about, already, in this New Year!
I have been a Sparker for years now. I lost weight for my wedding, and then lost weight after my baby, and more recently some of you may have followed my first attempt at Insanity. I made it through the first month and then stopped before starting the second month because “it took too much time” and “I was too stressed from starting work again for the school year”. I made so many excuses in August; all of my excuses were true statements, but they didn’t have to be excuses! To break it down I work full time, I have a stressful job (2 of us are now doing the work of 6), my day is cut even shorter due to driving 45 minutes to and then 45 minutes from work, I have a two year old son, my husband works second shift so I am basically a single mom from the time we get home from school and the time my son goes to bed….does that sound like you? Have you used any of these excuses before?? Let me tell you where these excuses led me…
Between August and January, my eating was basically whatever I could find and whatever was easy; I barely worked out; I drank entirely too much to cope with the stress of my job; I enjoyed my family but, really, nothing else. I knew I needed to stop this downward spiral and start the New Year out right! And BOY DID I!!
My friend from one of the BLC Challenges turned me towards a 30 day Challenge she was having. It was simple: workout using a Beachbody Program (I already owned plenty!), eat clean for 30 days, check in with my online group of challengers for support, accountability, and motivation, and finally drink Shakeology. I was eager to start it, but skeptical about the price and whether or not it would work. I started the challenge on January 9th and started my Insanity, journey part 2. My results were different this time around and it literally changed my life forever! After just two weeks, I had a revelation…here is my actual quote to my fellow challengers:
“Ok, so my public service announcement for the day...
I know we all struggle with motivation and this can be such a tough transition with all of these changes. I truly have never believed in myself and I think that is why I always fail; now I believe in myself and I believe in the things that I am doing.
I am so surprised by the success I am having, another lb down on the scale today which would be down 9.2lbs in just over 2 weeks. This is not normal for me, I never stick to things. I did lose 20lbs with Turbo Jam before my wedding but I started in the 160's again and didn't make my 20lbs for 6 months...same things with CLX after baby, it came off but it crawled. We all have different situations and circumstances all of which I have used as excuses. When I lost the weight before I didn't have any excuses or distractions and now I have a ton...but I haven't let it get to me...I am making time for myself, believing in myself, and doing it the way it is intended to be done.
I don't think it is just that I am doing insanity, I think it is the type of food and they way I eat now (including Shakeology daily! In the past I would have never committed to doing something EVERYDAY!). Whatever program you are doing, look at the guidelines in the book...what sort of guidelines do they use, how many calories? I used to stay in range, but eat mostly lean cuisines and 100 cal packs and if I had extra "calories" I'd have a glass of wine with my dinner. Now after 2 weeks, I don't have to open the nutrition guidebook, I know what combinations and amounts I should be having...and it's working when it never has before.
I know this is long and I should be getting ready for work, but these are the things that I am learning about myself and the process as I go along the way. I just had to share, because seriously if I can do it you all can do it! I believe in you...I believe in US!
Thank you all for your support :-)”
That being said, this challenge was such a great way to start my year! I fell in love with Beachbody and Shakeology and wanted to become a coach in order to pay it forward. I now get to help others with their fitness or weight loss journey and have started challenge groups of my own. Being coach is a great way to keep me motivated too!!
You saw my first journey with insanity…now watch me finish it…I may actually post my before pics along with my after pics (after my 60 days) so friend me to check it out!!
