Overcoming Excuses....

Thursday, February 16, 2012

Do you know how hard it was not to start this entry with an excuse for why I have an excuse....???

Any and all possiblities in this pic came to mind! But there are no real excuses, only choices made one choice at a time on a day to day basis.

Weigh in yesterday - UP one pound, no excuse but a few poor choices to not get moving first thing in the morning so exercise didn't get done. Then a choice to have not so healthy evening snacks a couple nights this week.

But the shift towards labeling decisions made as conscious choices is a huge step in the right direction.

Excuses are things we tell ourselves we 'can't change or couldn't prevent. CHOICE on the other hand places responsibility right back where it belongs, with US.

Today I began with the choice to get 45 minutes of cardio in before everyone else woke up ...I make the choice to eat a healthy breakfast and fill my water bottle to keep handy here at the desk.

What choices are you making today?

Make them healthy and do enjoy the journey!

    Hi Debbie;

We forget we are in charge of ourselves so if it goes wrong we can't blame anyone except ourselves. If someone does something to you to harm you then that is not you. What we eat is not fed to us and if we sit on the chair and do not move than that is on us.I have gotten into making a trail mix with cereal, dried fruits, raisins and nuts which I put in a small cup maybe 6 ozes and nibble on that all day and only eat half of it. Keeps from eating what I shouldn't and it is healthy. Keep up the good attitude and make 2012 you best year in reaching your goals. God bless you always.

Smile Joyce

    emoticon THANKS! As my brother-in-law says, " EXCUSES BE GONE!" You have given me a new way to think instead of excuses, it's bad choices were made. I had a thought just come to me, excuses are inactive while choices are active. Excuses take away your accountability while choices do just the opposite. Choices make you accountable for your own actions good or bad. Now which actions to I want too be accountable for? Why the right ones of course, after all, we are what are choices are! emoticon

    There's a sign in our band hall that says "Don't Make Excuses...Make Improvements".

Your blog (good one) brought this sign to mind!

I'm also trying to make ONE good decision at a time!
