I have been wanting a Heart Rate Monitor for a while. I just wasn't sure about what brand and some of the ones I have seen were a little intimidating and pricey. The last time I was at The Sports Authority, I saw a HRM by New Balance that I liked. At the time, it was about $75, but I didn't have that to spare, so I was planning to go back after my tax refund came in. Last night, I was at Costco doing some grocery shopping, and my mom stopped to look at the case with the "sparklies". Boom, there it was, the HRM I had seen and it was $40. My Mom looked at me funny as I started to fill out the request slip. I said "Happy Birthday to me, a month early." I was afraid that if I didn't get it right then, they would be gone by the time I came back.
I used it for the first time today, and I don't know if it was a mental thing or if seeing my heart rate helped me push that little bit more, but I did my 3.9 mile walk in just under 60 minutes, for the first time! I FELT SO
I also burned more calories then the Fitness Tracker calculated. I suspected that might be the case, because I am not walking on a level surface and I even have a 1/2 mile section that is uphill. I am curious to see what I burn when I do Zumba on the Wii. Here's to a new tool to help me to achieve my goals.
