Started Cardiac Rehab today!

Wednesday, February 15, 2012

After having an abnormal stress test, I had a cardiac catheterization in November. The cardiologist found two blockages in which he placed stents. Since we spend the winter in Florida, he said that I should also see a cardiologist there. After finally getting an appointment, this doctor said that I needed to attend cardiac rehabilitation. I had my evaluation, was accepted for the program and had my first day today. The program is 12 weeks long and takes place 3 days a week. I hope that this will jumpstart my exercise program ! If I have to be there three times a week, I will not be making excuses not to exercise - which I have often been known to do! Wish me luck!

Good Luck. I am like that also. I just can't motivate myself to change and do other exercise. I have been doing the same for forever and I know it isn't doing anything, but if I change I am afraid I will stop all. Isn't life great?

Hope you enjoy it. My DH did his 12 wks from July till end of Sept and barely finished it before he was diagnosed with the cancer and now he will have to start working out all over again-he has had a tough go with radiation and dr's advised him to just take it easy but cardiologist told him last week to start walking again so next week after his last treatment he will start a walking program.
I think it is a wonderful program as someone says-it teaches what you can and can't do.

What a great opportunity for you! A close friend did cardiac rehab and said it was the best thing she was ever involved in - she learned so much about her body and exercise and what she can and can not (should not) do!
Good luck!

I think that is Wonderful! I had a few months when I was sent to a Physical Therapist...1 hr. every Monday thru Friday mornings. He was so good at not letting me talk my way out of doing it, he'd cajole me "Yeah, I can see you're pretty sick, so I'll go Easy on you, let's just do some mild things" And he'd cajole me into doing more than I thought I could. Often wish I was still ordered to go..Maybe I'd move more!

So take this as a good gift prescription. emoticon Bet it will be fun! So happy you are doing this. Proud of you! Keep us posted. emoticon

Lin, that is actually good news! Yes, I think you are so right that you will have a ready made situation for getting an exercise program going! I know it will be helpful to you. Work hard and let us know how it goes for you. I've been wondering how you're doing. Hope you're enjoying the Florida weather. It's been cool here in AZ, but sunny most days and really pleasant! Sending you hugs, my dear!! Jeannie
