On Which Step Are You Sitting?

Wednesday, February 15, 2012

...I actually think the bottom two steps need to be switched... I think it's progress to realize that often an 'I can't' is an unrecognised 'don't wanna' (because I'm scared, don't want to fail, too hard, feel cornered). Whereas 'I can't' has a 'victim' implication, I believe 'I don't want to' is a more powerful position because it acknowledges a sense of choice and control.

What does anyone else think?

Be SMART and own those stairs!

May today and every day bring to you a ridiculous abundance of whatever you need. May all your concerns, struggles, anxieties and fears fall like ashes as you rise on eagle's wings, SOARING above all that would hinder you along this tremendous adventure of being and becoming all you are created to be. May the grace of God simply "overtake" you moment by moment. May the joy and victory of the risen Lord be yours in a very personal way... may you always be overwhelmed by the grace of God, rather than by the cares of life!

To achieve any personal goal of self-improvement, one must have a concrete objective, a doable plan of action, and an appreciation of the mind's ability to heal. That "healing" is actually similar to a body detoxing. Love brings up anything unlike itself for purposes of healing only. Everything contains it's opposite.

The difficulty is we believe in our mind-sets. The true warrior understands this dynamic and disproves his/her own beliefs that come up in opposition to his/her personal goals.

There should also be a step for "I'll get around to it sometime"

I think I spend way too much time on the "I will try to do it" step. Thanks for the visual. I must strive for the "I WILL DO IT" step.

You have a beautiful spirit, and that shines through in your blog. You wrote that your weight tracker is a visual aid in your journey, and as long as that is encouragement for you, I encourage you to keep using it as just such a tool.

I do not believe any of us can succeed conforming to one person's way or another's. We must find our own way; often they are going to be ways that work for some, but, nothing works for everyone. So, keep "doing you" and you'll find your road, and I know you'll walk it proudly and successfully.

I love the prayers you include at the end of each blog. I need those blessings and reminders!

As for the "I can't," I think sometimes it can be an "I don't wanna," but I think more often it's an "I'm frightened" or an "I don't wanna fail."

Interesting add on about "I can't" because in our house that translates as "I won't" because you haven't even tried!

As to "step" right now...I'm hovering between "I'll try" and "I can." I believe I can, but waiting for the body to fully catch up! Hopefully the various things I have in place will allow my body to learn that it can!!

    Have a great day! emoticon

My butt is comfortably resting on the "I can do it" step. I know I can, I have. The "I will do it" step is like that elusive vacation mindset that I have visited, enjoyed and determine to live in. But, I can't seem to keep up with it. I suppose "having to keep up with it" and thinking of it as "vacation" are the root of my problem.

ahh.... perhaps something to ponder whilst on a true vacation at the end of the week.

The last few days I've been on a step that my mind says "I can do this" and my body says "Wait, lets talk about this" LOL! I am feeling better though and slowly getting back on track.

As always, a very motivating blog, my friend!

LOL! Like you, in relation to the rest of us, I actually think "been doing it but body hates me" a couple of steps above 'Yes, I did it!"

...I actually think the bottom two steps need to be switched, too... I think it's progress to realize that often an 'I can't' is an unrecognised 'don't wanna'. 'I don't want to' is a more powerful position because it is acknowledges a sense of choice and control.
