Checking in after a busy weekend

Monday, February 13, 2012

Hello, SparkFriends -

I'm not much of a blogger, admittedly, but I wanted to provide a short update.

Work has been stressful and I've not dealt with it as constructively as I could. That's changing for me and I feel as if I'm closer to "on track," whatever that is. My eating has been fine, but my time and energy for working out has been waning.

Craft-wise I've been busy working on my first sweater. I'll share pictures when it looks more like a sweater and less like a blanket with a sleeve.

Most importantly, my husband and I have been managing our lives and emotions with our aging friend, Hawthorn. She turned 18 in November and the past few days have been rough. She's really not eating much and it may soon be time to part ways. As selfish as I'd like to be, I'm trying very hard to keep her needs in mind as a priority. All positive thoughts are welcome. If anyone here speaks "Old Crabby Cat" fluently, I'd be happy to call you and let her talk to her and see what she thinks.

We had a great weekend otherwise. Patrick and I went to a hockey game on Saturday night, which was much like a date for us. Yesterday we participated in a Sweetheart Bowling Tournament, finishing 14th out of 40 couples; not bad for first-timers!

That's the scoop, Sparklers. I'm making time for rowing and hope to add more exercise in my days, if only to help me better the stress. I hope that you are all doing well on your journeys and making time for yourself, too!

Trish, I am also dealing with an 18 yer old cat and the corresponding issues. She sleeps with me, and yells at me until I pay her enough attention--forget about my wanting to go to sleep....

What a beautiful cat. I personally know how hard that decision is. I kept my boxer around longer than I should have. That was selfish of me. He woke up one morning and he was howling. I knew it was time to say good bye. Hands down, the hardest decision to ever have to make. emoticon

On a more positive note... can't wait to see the sweater! And congrats on the bowling tournament. I haven't been bowling in years. Thanks for the date night idea because I can't sit through another movie! emoticon

Nothing like a pile of stress to derail the work out. At least you are getting it under control.

Love the sweater comment. LOL. I'm not crafty. I sewed a dress once. It looked like a pencil. I was actually pencil thin so it fit me like a glove but it was green and made me look like a green bean which lead to some teasing due to a take off on my name. If I had been a foot taller I'm sure I would have been a model. LOL.

I love to bowl. I have not been in years.

Oh, GF. I am so sorry to h ear about Hawthorn. I will be praying for her and for you both. Times like this are rough but I know you will instinctively realize what to do. I'm sending you a hug because I love you.

Give your kitty a cuddle for me (or whatever she likes best.) It's hard to know when it's time to say goodbye...

Hawthorn is a beauty! She is a lucky cat to have such and loving, caring home.

We said goodby to our old guy in August and I think we are still struggling with the after-effects. It's never an easy decision and I don't envy you. Having an outlet, like exercise, is a good thing in these cases.
