The Evils of Kona Winds and Auntie Flow

Well, the past week has been rough. I write my blog entries over the course of Friday, Saturday, and, if it is long, Sunday. When I am caught up with my work, I type them out as a word document. I save and revise as I go, and then copy and paste when I am done. I was feeling pretty good after I wrote last week’s blog, and I was looking forward to weighing in on Monday.

Pop has a procedure scheduled for 11am on Monday, so I woke up early to get my walk done. I stepped on the scale first, and wanted to break something. I wanted to kick and scream and cry. I was up 2 lbs! I have been having a hard time and I was just soooooo frustrated. I sucked it up and went for my walk. When I got back and got ready to go with Pop, I realized “Aunty Flow” was coming to visit. I am hoping and praying that is the reason for the weight gain, even though I haven’t noticed water retention in the past. I was supposed to do EA Fitness Trainer, but we didn’t get home from the hospital until after 5 pm, and I was just too tired. It started to rain in the afternoon, and catching the bus, in the rain, with Pop and his wheelchair, was not fun. I went to bed early, and woke up the next morning to pouring rain and winds all over the place. I did not want to get out of bed. Aunty Flow was raging, it was cold, I had rain blowing in through the jalousies, and I just wanted to cocoon up in a ball on the couch and watch TV all day. I didn’t though. I made up the EA FT I missed on Monday, and I walked to Leslie Sansone, since it was way too wet and cold to walk out side. Wednesday was better; more sun less rain. I walked out side and did 20 minutes of Zumba with the Wii. We were back to our usual weather on Thursday, so walk and EA FT. Friday is back to work. I did pretty good on the exercise front this week. I just it pay’s off on Monday’s weigh in.

As I write this portion, it is now Sunday afternoon. I have another hour to go, then my four days off. The Great Aloha Run is will be here next week Monday. I am so ready for it and the opportunity to meet fellow Sparkers. I hope every one has a great week.

    Well, despite the fact that the scale did not tell you what you wanted to hear, you still proceeded to get some good exercise in over the course of the week. Good for you! Here's to the bright side. And, BTW, I always consistently gain at least 2-3 lbs temporarily while Aunt Flow comes to visit me. I imagine what you were seeing was probably water, especially if your salt intake was slightly higher than usual at the time.

    Boy, can I relate. The hormonal fluctuations that most of us as women need to account for and deal with makethe weighing in thing an adventure in itself. And sometimes, not a happy adventure!

Hang in there - it is most probably just water weight. Let your body recover it's equilibrium a bit and try again. Also remember not to fixate too much on the scale. I'll tell you, if I did that I would have given up LONG AGO! My losing a pound is like a minor miracle.
Looking forward to meeting you at the GAR... MOEMOORE and I decided we'd make sure to post our official numbers once we picke them up so we could have the best chance of finding each other at Aloha Stadium. I have little Spark Goodies for all the Hawaii Sparker finishers!
