Skinny Way of Thinking

Sunday, February 12, 2012

Yesterday my boss asked me to decorate the front window of herbusiness with hearts for Valentine's Day. I'm not much of an artist but I thought, they're just hearts, even a child can draw a heart. I got my red, pink, and white paints ready and started to make outlines to be colored in later. I went across half of the window before my boss stopped me and said "What are those supposed to be?" "Hearts" I said. She said they were the sickliest hearts she has ever seen. I stepped back to admire my work and I thought they looked great! She drew HER version of a heart on the window and I could see there was a difference. Hers were rounder and fatter and mine were slimmer, shapelier and I thought...SEXIER. Try as I might, I couldn't make them as full as hers, They may have started out fat, but the more I made, the slimmer they got. I guess after over 5 years of maintenance, my life has really "thinned" every way. I view things differently, which is a good thing for me, not so much for my decorating. I can't wait to see how my St. Patrick Day shamrocks turn out. But then, I don't think my boss will ask me to paint anymore windows!
