I typically interact with the Sparkpeople web-site on my smart phone. Then last July the unthinkable happened. My husband and I took our dogs to get their nails clipped, I dropped by phone somewhere and had to get a new one which finally happened for Christmas.
In the interim, I had to go back to using my old blackberry curve which was like trying to communicate on the internet with cave paintings. Did I go back to sparking on my computer? Of course not. Spoiled child that I am. I just stopped tracking because using a pencil and paper to track it all and then sit down for a half hour would have just been too logical a solution to my dilemma. And hey, if I wasn't tracking who was going to see those bad choices. And with my food choices so out of whack, how could I ever out-exercise them, why try?
Happily, I got another phone and am back to tracking and undoing some of the damage.
I got on the site this morning to respond to a blog posted by someone who has been a real friend to me through this journey and has quietly gone about the business of changing her lifestyle. I find that there are some things you just can't do on a smartphone, like blog or comment more than 5 words. I'm glad I did log on. I forgot how many other resources are on this site. There are so many facets to this site that I never explored before and maybe just took for granted.
I feel like an "indoor" cat that has escaped into the yard for the first time. "What the. . .! Where's the ceiling? This place has no walls. Let me just crouch here for a bit and take this all in . . . and then I'm going to run and play and explore this new place."
