Heidi has come a long way

Friday, February 10, 2012

Just a little over a year ago, my daughter, Heidi had to make a tough decision for a young woman. After spending a month in the hospital with IBS and the medication no longer working, she made the decision to have her colon removed. I took off from work and went to Colorado to stay with her. After four surgeries, everything healed and she went back to work. She teaches environmental education and works for the county outside Denver. She had a long way to get her strength back as a hiker, backpacker, and rock climber. While working on her health and new lifestyle of having an ostomy, she created a web site With the help of her husband, she included tips and videos. She just won a national award for her work. As a mom, I am so very proud of her. She has made friends all over the world. She inspires me! When I look at our pictures, we both look a lot healthier a year later. Spark People has really helped me with that.

I just saw this, for the first lovely Heidi is. Inside and out --- she's a brave and special girl and I pray that she's thriving!
