A year at my goal weight is almost here. There have been times when I didn't think I would make it to my goal weight let alone a year past. I still have almost 2 months but as I approach the mark it has renewed my committment to exercise. (That and the weather warming up).
As I have bought new clothes over the year my husband was joking around about fitting back into my old clothes again - I told him I gave them all away. He then asked what I was going to wear when I gained weight back. I was very confident when I told him I had no plans to gain it back and if the new clothes I bought started to get tight that was my clue to increase my exercise and re-examine my calorie intake.
I think the biggest thing that has helped me is not eliminating any food from my diet and making it okay to have snacks/treats with the rest of the family. The key is eating slow to enjoy what you eat and limiting the portion size.
