Good Beginnings and Frustrating Endings

Monday, February 06, 2012

I am noticing a bit of a depressing tone to my latest blog entries...

I began the day with a walk with Piper (the dog). I was fasting this morning so I didn't eat breakfast (and still had a tummy upset in the midst of teaching 1st period). I took the time to sit in the quiet of the morning with my dogs around me (read some prayers from my Catholic prayer book) while taking deep breaths.

I went to school and felt good, energized. After lunch, I began to feel tired, lethargic. What did I do after my classes were finished, yep, gave into a food frenzy!! I had 4 mini cupcakes, a doughnut, 2 kolaches and an Amy's lasagna. Sigh.

I did get my papers graded. I did a little bit of planning and now, I feel so tired!! Trying to stay awake while watching How I Met Your Mother.

I'm so disoriented...

I hope I sleep well tonight!

Dim, thank you for your thoughts!! Fast can be rather extreme but I was doing it for spiritual reasons as well as health reasons....but maybe a fruit fast would work better until my lifestyle is more "balanced!!"

Thank you for stopping by my blog!!!!

If I can offer my humble opinion....I think you may be being to hard on your self. These fasts are too harsh on someone that is trying to learn how to eat healthier. I am saying this because of prior experiences and miserable outcomes. emoticon
I would start off the day like a race horse and finish like a tired and very deprived mule. emoticon
I suggest you pack yourself lots of fruits like grapes, oranges, apples...things you can eat a lot of and very slowly. These helped me feel full and satisfied. Also chicken breast up to 6 oz a sitting...it is really filling.
But mostly when I feel hungry for a certain food i look it up on the food search and check out the calories, and ask myself if it is worth it??? emoticon
Thank you for the opportunity to share some tips. You can do this it takes time but you will I know you can!! emoticon
God Bless

Gotta agree about the fasting. I never made it more than ten hours. Take a hot soak and turn in. Tomorrow will be better.

Been there done that! Don't beat yourself up over it. Maybe having a little breakfast & small snacks may keep away the feed frenzies! Hugs!1

I LOVE the way you started your morning! I've been trying to spend 20 minutes each day meditating and just being quiet to listen to my thoughts (and God :) I've read a lot about the healing benefits of fasting, but in my current weak-for-food state, I can't do it. I've tried to juice and water fast on three separate occasions and it sets me up for a binge every time (so you are not alone ;) I think the best time to fast is on days that you have NOTHING to do and can just sleep and hold the couch down.

Sleep well! Tomorrow will feel much better.
