getting discouraged here...any advice appreciated!

hello fellow sparkies!

i am in a bit of a rut. i got on the scale this morning and sadly am reporting a big fat ZERO weightloss this week. now it was the TOM and I did have some wine yesterday at a superbowl party...GO BIG BLUE!!!! Awesome game!

i am still following the south beach diet (on week 5) and i am still not eating cards. i did start eating fruit again, which has been great! i am never hungry and have been workign out 5 days a week, cardio and strength, burning an avg of 500 calories per workout.

yet, the scale is still not going down. i am wondering if i am not eating enough? i am eating between 1000 and 1300 daily. lots and lot so of water.

while i am discouraged, i realize healthy weight loss needs to be slow. i am enjoying my increased energy too!

anyone have any words of wisdom they can share?

    thanks all! i am definitely going to keep my head up! this is a lifelong journey after all! the most important part is that i feel better than i have in a really long time and i am staying committed to my life!!!! :-) have a great day and thanks for all of your support!

    I had the same problem (motivation) - and I see lots of support from others. Add mine to the list. Keep with it and it will get better. Our bodies ebb and flow. You're just in an ebb period.

    No brilliant words of wisdom here but I will say this, even if the numbers on the scale aren't moving, the inches aren't melting off and you don't see progress in photos, as long as you are working out and eating right, your body is healthier for it. That little tid bit keeps me hitting the gym all the time!

    I am not new to dieting, but am in about the same week as you are. For the last couple of weeks, the scale refused to budge in spite of staying on plan and exercising. I was a little put out too. Then at what I would term the oddest moment, it moved downward. Hooray!!! Your attitude is good, so rely on it. The scale will move.

    Well, beacause i am in a case just like yours, i was a bit discouraged too, then i took my measurements and I've lost 2 cm from hip and 2 cm from waist, which really picked me up a lil,
besides, it's not important how much weight you've lost as much as how energetic you were throughout the week, and how you worked out 5 times/week this is something I personally would cheer up for.
And after all you have gained more heart health and physical fitness. it's not all about the scales you know! emoticon

    Hi mama2grace,
There are a couple things ive learned through my weight loss journey and 1 is that if you haven't gone to the potty that can add up to 6 lbs or more of weight or make u look as though you haven't lost. Also, whenever I stop losing for any length of time I add a little something extra to my workouts and add in more protean into my diet. Maybe add extra weight to ur strength training.
