Life updates

Wow - it is so amazing to me how life can change so quickly.

At the end of December things changed up for me in a hurry. Going back several months previous, I had a couple of friends tell me about someone that they thought would be a good friend for me. So, I started emailing with Ruby.

She seemed nice, and over time we became good friends. Then, at the end of December she flew up from California to visit me in Montana. At that first meeting we just clicked. It's hard to explain, but it was there. We had shared information about each other and she even told me that she had lost about 70 pounds on WW and she was living the healthy lifestyle as well.

That was just one point that we connected on. There were so many! We made a trip down to visit the mutual friends that said we needed to connect up - and they were overjoyed that it was going so well.

She was here for about seven days - and four days in I had felt so good and strong about her that I asked her if she would wear a promise ring. She said yes! We went to the jewelers and picked one out. Then two days later, I just thought "This is just amazing to me." and I asked her to marry me and once again she said yes! It was funny because the first time she said yes, she said it so quietly that I asked again. So - back to the jewelers to exchange that promise ring for an engagement ring.

We were at the point in our lives for some life changes. Her children were grown on their own and she was looking to move out of CA. So, the plan was to get her moved to MT and then get married later. After some discussions we just decided that we would marry in CA before we left for MT.

So - that means that the wedding date is now March 25th. I'm flying down on the 20th of March and we will spend some time before the wedding. Then on the 30th we will be on the road, taking a u-haul and her truck back to Montana. It's going to be the start of a great adventure.

The thing that amazes me is that I had NO intention of getting married anytime soon. It wasn't even on my radar. I just thought that it was going to be a nice meeting of a couple of friends and that was going to be it. I had just been telling some of my co-workers that it was probably going to be a long time before I was married again.

I've had some people that question the speed at our engagement, but I just figure - what the heck? Both Ruby and I have been married before. We know what's involved. I just remember the quote (and I paraphrase) "No great adventure starts with the comment that I'm just going to sit here".

So - you never know what life is going to throw your way. Sometimes when an opportunity comes along, you just grab on and go for it.

I wish I could say that I've made some great headway on my weight loss but I haven't. As a matter of fact, I've gained some pounds. However, like before, I'm not giving up. I'm back in the gym and cooking better foods.

The cool part about it all is that I'm going to have a partner in life that is going to give me that love and support. Someone that has been on this road before and knows what it is like.

It is all good - and just going to keep on getting better!

Onwards...
