I'm such a 'numbers' girl and as I logged in my measurements this morning and review my stats (including where I started when I joined SP), I am doing relatively well. My journey began on SP at around 183lbs and as of today I'm 27lbs lighter and 24lbs away from my 'happy weight'.
A fellow team member posted the link and I recalled using it and thought I'd share it here with you in case you want to have a peak at what your happy weight would be. I like that it takes into consideration various factors when determining YOUR happy weight. Here's the link:
Now I stand at 5'3 inches and I'm 45 years old and both my parents were obese and many of my family members battle the bulge. I consider myself a medium frame and my exercise varies but I put 3 times a week and I have not quit smoking (never picked up that bad habit) and I DO allow myself indulgences.
My happy weight is 132lbs which puts my BMI at 23.4. They say a healthy weight range for my height/age is 104 to 141lbs. I would never see myself below 120lbs again (I was 115 when I was 15 years old - 30 years ago). My own 15 year old daughter who I think is very healthy looking stands maybe an inch shorter than me and weighs around 130lbs so I'm modelling from her.
While I'm a numbers girl, I also realize that the number on the scale is not the end all. Other factors to consider is if you're doing Strength Training and if you are adding muscle mass versus 'fat' mass (because muscles weigh more). I'm not telling you anything you don't already know... Measurements are another key tool in knowing where we're at (including how we feel in our clothes).
Today I feel great wearing the new outfit I bought - size 10 jeans (our sizes in Canada may vary from other countries - but I was a size 14 and sometimes 16). I figure when I reach my goal I will be in single digit sizes and that excites me.
The prospect of shopping for new clothes, including indulging in some nice undergarments, is something I'm looking forward to.
En route to my ultimate goal - I will give myself some small rewards (like the new outfit I bought myself). My next reward will be when I reach 140Ville and maintain there for a while... perhaps a pedicure (something I've never had done).
My ultimate reward - a photo shoot which I'm going to research. I want someone who will take different shots, with me wearing different things and in different settings. I've never had professional photos taken and have seen some awesome ones... it's certainly a keepsake I look forward to creating!
It's great to set a goal and setting yourself up with just rewards makes it worth the effort! What is your happy weight and what steps are you taking to get there (mini-goals and rewards)?
