Share SparkPeople Status Updates on Facebook

Wanted to let everyone know about a small change we just made to make it easier for anyone to share their SparkPeople status updates on Facebook, as well. This is a feature that we've had for a long time, but it was previously a bit hard to find.

The enhancement now makes this feature really easy for anyone to use! The next time you update your SparkPeople status you'll see the option to "Post to Facebook" also. This box will be unchecked by default, so if you'd like to try it out you'll have to check the box before hitting the "Update Status" button.

If you have not previously connected your Facebook and SparkPeople accounts, you'll first be asked to do this (it takes just a second) before you can proceed. You'll only need to do this once, not every time you use the feature.

Once you have successfully shared a status update on Facebook, we'll keep this box checked for the next time you update your SparkPeople status, but you'll always have the option to un-check this box before posting.

This was a feature that many SparkPeople users were already taking advantage of, so we're happy to make it easier for everyone to use!

SparkCheers!
Tim

Just subscribed today. Please tell this feature has been removed. I would NOT want to ever share this with facebook. And the thought that I might accidentally share with facebook makes me want to not post anything.

Thank-you for the post. Like others before me, I too, do NOT want to be connected to facebook in any way, shape, or form & I'd appreciate knowing I don't have to worry about what is here on SparkPeople about me is not automatically shared to facebook.

Agree with Nancan2. Like my Facebook and Sparkpeople separate, though mine seems to always be checked.

Thanks for the change. I use FB but don't want my weight loss and health journey charted for them to see. I share on SP & feel safe here. If I had to share on FB I don't know that I'd continue here. Tnx for your consideration.

THANK YOU for changing the default!!! This will make me much more likely to update my SP status - no more fear of forgetting to UNcheck! I do leave it checked sometimes, but some things are for SP eyes only. :-)

Thanks for the default of unchecked. I just wish other things (like replies to forum posts) could also be so set by default.

Could this new change be why I am not getting my points for sharing on fb and why a friend of mine can't share on fb when she previously was able to?

I'd STILL like to see the Share on Facebook option REMOVED from the blogs. I KNOW that when ever I access a blog that I've subscribed to from my email, it gives NUMEROUS options including Facebook, Twitter, Stumlbeupon, etc. The LAST thing I'd want is to have my blogs easily found on Facebook or Stumbleupon !!!!!!!

FANGFACEKITTY 1/30/2012 8:16PM

I appreciate that this time the option is defaulted to unchecked...but to be perfectly honest I am a bit sick of constantly being pushed to link everything to Facebook. I was perfectly happy having removed the option to push my status to FB and now you have put it back. Still an option but now I have to pay close attention every time I update my status to make sure I do not check it by accident and therefore change my default.

PLEASE give us the option to remove the ability to have our posts linked to FB by ourselves or others if we choose to set up our profiles this way. For those that like to link to FB, fine, give them that option, but stop pushing me to do the same.

NO thanks at all, I want SP and fb totally separate. I Love it here and the friends I have here but certainly don't want my status here on FB or vice versa.
Won't be unchecking anything to let it do that, but most def. thanks for not just doing it!

I agree. Facebook is like a public bulletin board that everyone can see. Friends, future bosses, long lost loves...not people I want to share my weight loss journey with :) Sparkpeople is more like...group counseling ;) It's a gathering of like minded people supporting each other.

Thank you for making it default to unchecked.

I agree with those of us who totally do NOT want any information from Spark posted on Face Book. These two facets of my life are, and will stay, separate! I cannot understand why anyone would want them to intersect.
