Decided it was time to start running again. Last run I did was about 3-4 months ago and having registered for my first 5k run in summer I thought I better get training.
Slightly altered my route to avoid the big hill as I decided I couldn't face it this morning. Was struggling a bit with the cold and general fitness levels. Had to walk for a few intervals which was disappointing as I managed to run the entire circuit when I last went for a run. Well, I'm sure I'll get back to those levels of fitness again soon. Did 2.6 miles in 28:33 minutes. Not brilliant, but not bad either. There was a point where I thought that it'll take me 40 minutes to complete my round. Forgot that most of it was downhill once I've passed the 1.5 mile marker. Made it considerably easier.
Lessons for my next run: Pace yourself. Started off way too fast and therefore struggled to complete my round.
On the plus side: I feel a lot better now for having been for a run.
Also had our first badminton match of the year last Friday. We got demolished with an embarrassing 9-0 defeat. Although we had some good games in the process. My partner and I probably getting closest to winning a point for the team losing our first game 24-26; 21-14; 22-20. After winning the first rubber 26-24 we were both pretty knackered, which showed in the second rubber as we only managed 14 points. But then losing the last one 22-20 was pretty painful. Our performance went downhill after that and our last 2 games didn't end anywhere near as favourable even though we decided that their number one pairing was quite beatable. Ah well, playing the same team at home in 2 weeks time. Intending to get at least one point out of them if possible. Grrrr....
