Does BMI measure body fat percentage?

Sunday, January 29, 2012

BMI is a quick and easy way to determine if your weight is appropriate for your height. It is NOT an estimate of body fat percentage. It's just a general measure (and isn't always accurate for everyone).

This was from the trival questions on SP. News to me, I thought it was a body fat percentage.

Hey that reminded me! I wanted to get my body fat percentage taken. THe only accurate way of measuring body fat is the immersion method. We have a weigh tank at work, I'll have to get the staff to measure me.

Your BMI is a great GUIDELINE. That's about it. It's not completely accurate, if it was then many body builders who have loads of muscle would be considered obese.

It's amazing all the little things we discover along the way. Hope you are having a suuuupppppperrr weekend!
