I donít know if it was just a combination of the fact that I ran Wednesday and ran again on Thursday, the mileage was higher then Iím used to for a week night, the warmer than average temperatures and the wind but last nightís run sucked. Just thinking about it makes me cringe. Honestly, I think it was back to back runs, the temperature and the wind.
I wonít say that having a slow day at work dragged down the pre-run energy levelÖok I will say that. Slow days at work, make for slower than average runs, itís a fact. Show me a slow run and Iíll show you a slow day at work. The more energy I use at work, the more I have to burn off during my run. Youíd think it would be the opposite but itís not. The tougher the day, the faster I runÖI guess thatís part of the reason why I use running as an outlet for stress.
Anyway, it was a very tough run. Hereís my splits:

Mile 1: Tail wind! Oh yeah.
Mile 2: Some headwind and a lot of side wind. Took an effort to keep from being blow off course.
Mile 3: Mostly tail wind but some side wind.
Mile 4: Mostly side wind and the wind was picking up.
Mile 5: Headwind & lots of hills. We donít have much for hills in the valley, itís pretty flat but some joker engineer decided that it would be a good idea to raise the sidewalks up above the road way about 7 feet between side streets so it was a lot of up and down.
Mile 6: Headwind and some side wind with the last big hill of the run. The temps were also dropping and the fog was coming in too.
I was miserable though the entire run. For once my feet werenít bothering me at all. They usually hurt some for the first couple of miles but not on this run. All the pain was in my Hamstrings. They were really tight. The only thing I can think of that could have caused this is the fact that I am incorporating more hills into my run. They were tight and sore the whole time. I might have been leaning forward more during the times I was running into the wind without realizing I was doing it too.
But all and all it was just a slow and uncomfortable run. But I figure even a bad run is a good run. Itís just another platform to build from.
