Last year I started my quarter per mile goal and my money magnet bucket challenge. Every mile I walked, jogged, or moved on the elliptical a quarter went into the bucket. Along with that, any money I found (sounds silly) went in the bucket also. Below is the link to the original blog.

Why magnet? Ever since I have been walking and jogging my husband has called me the money magnet. It just seems like I find money on my routes. Not only on my runs, even when I am walking through the parking lot to my car or just strolling through the mall. He makes fun of me because I will stop and pick up money or walk out of my way to pick up a penny. Hey, those pennies add up!
With 2011 challenge complete, blog closed and money donated, I created a new challenge for myself that spans two years! Yep, that’s right - a LONG term commitment.
Again, same amount, a quarter per mile and now a quarter per 100 crunches. But why would I set two years? Hawaii baby! In 2014, my husband and I will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary and I intend to celebrate it in Hawaii. I set a goal of $10k - but I have no idea how many crunches or miles that is, I just know I got a lot to get done.
So far for January I am off to a rotten start due to a lower back issue (hard on the mileage and the crunches). But, my goal is set and I am off to achieve it.
As of today’s writing, $3.15 has been put in the bucket from miles and crunches and $1.20 found walking through the parking lot, mall, streets or wherever. See, those pennies DO add up. What’s funny, is each time I find a coin I pick it up and say, “Hawaii Fund”. The other day, my husband handed be a dime - he smiled, said he found it in the parking lot at work, and exclaimed, “Hawaii Fund.”
Love my dumb bucket idea(s) !
