I'm back!

Thursday, January 26, 2012

So the last couple of weeks have been nothing but hectic! We've finally got a nice living room, just a few finishing touches but it feels so much nicer to sit in an uncluttered living room without the loud wallpaper left by the previous owners! All we have left now is the front room which will be our dining room, Matt is busy working in there now and hopefully in the next couple of weeks that room will be finished. It's really exciting because that's the last room in the house (apart from the kitchen which only needs a little work sometime next year) I can't believe the major renovations are nearly finished and I'm looking forward to letting the nesting instinct kick in and getting everything clean, tidy and in it's own place.

Although Matt has done the majority of the work, including plastering, plumbing, electrical, carpentry, laid the carpets and more, I've done what I can to help, mainly painting and removing wallpaper. I managed about 10 days of working on the house and then my body protested big time and all I could do was sleep. I finally listened after a day or two of trying to plough through but I just can't get myself back to that previous energy level. I started taking iron tablets a couple of weeks ago and that gave me a good energy level but I had to stop taking them for a few days last week because they upset my stomach, I had pains so bad I thought I was going to pass out. I rang my mum to keep me company in case I did faint but I was ok. I had a good few days resting and settled myself with doing the washing - well waiting for the washing machine to finish! I've tried to get a few things done, like painting a door, but I just can't seem to keep going for more than half hour or so. I went to the supermarket earlier and found myself leaning on the trolley for support. I got a trolley even though I only wanted one bag of groceries. I have been taking the iron tablets again for the last three days so I'm hoping that they will kick in soon and I'll begin to feel better again.

The baby seems to be growing nicely and although she still wriggling I've noticed there are less hard kicks, I've read that she's likely to have less room to move now and as long as she is wriggling I'm happy. I'm 31 weeks now and I can't believe there's only 9 weeks til my due date. I need to get my hospital bag ready and a last few things for the baby but I don't have the energy to wander round the shops. I may have to do some online shopping. I am waiting for my maternity allowance claim to come through but they have so far taken 3 weeks and stopped my previous money. There's no reason they should refuse me the maternity allowance because I was made redundant early on in my pregnancy but there's a little bit of me that's worried they may find a reason not to pay which will make it very difficult to get those last few things for the baby, I don't want to have to ask my parents to help, they have already spent so much on the baby, they pretty much furnished the babys room and bought us a pram along with other odds and ends.

Anyway, I've missed Sparking and I'll catch up on all the blogs over the next couple of days, I hope everyone has had a good time and made good progress, enjoy the rest of your week :-)
