I Found A Race!

So, remember the other day when I said I wanted to find a HM to train for? To help me get out of my funk? The only one I could find on a Saturday was a 2 Ĺ hr drive. BUT, then I realized I wasnít looking in all the right places.
Yesterday I found one Ė on a Saturday! Ė only 1 Ĺ hrs away. But it is on March 24th. 8 WEEKS! Can I be ready that soon?
You bet I can!
Itís official. Iím registered.

I already laid this out on my C25K Graduates team, but Iím so excited Iím going to go over it again.
Iíve been feeling like I missed out on so much running while I was sick & then when I felt better I couldnít get back into it, BUT in reality I didn't miss that much. Here are my LSR miles since December:
12/3: 7
12/10: 8
12/17: 8
12/24: 9
1/2: 9
1/7: 8
1/14: My drought happened & I missed a LSR
1/21: 4
I only missed 2 LSRs (I'm not going to count that 4 on 1/21) & 2 shorter runs. Thatís it! What felt like ages, really wasnít.
Iím glad I kept up with longer distances after my HM. I can sooooo be ready to have a great race on March 24th. 8 WEEKS!

My other HM I ended up dehydrated & had a horrible race. This time, I know how to prepare & I plan on finishing 20 minutes faster.
Another great thing is hubby is going to be there. He wonít be running, but heíll be there!

Woo Hoo!
Oh! I almost forgot - I'll be running over the Mississippi River. It's an out & back so I'll cross it twice. I think it will be flat everywhere except going up the bridge each time.

Tomorrow is a run day - think I'll have a little pep in my step?

    so exciting girl! You will totally rock it for sure! I sooo wish i would have kept up my long miles too. grr - back to training plan - at least I have till April - but still it's getting closer! good luck even though you won't need it!

    There is noting like registering for a race to get motivated. Go ahead and count the 4 miles on the 21st. Every running step adds up!

    Way to go...glad you are making moves to reach your goal. Keep up the great work.

My back issues arent new...I have had trouble and do exercises several times a week to keep the core strong but a couple of times a year I have to go in for another shot to relieve the pain for longer periods. On the short term, muscle relaxants and ice help alot. Guess my knee PT sped up the need for the shot and hope the insurance company comes through soon.

    Yay! I'm glad you found one. I think you'll be fine with 8 weeks. The training plans I use for HMs are only 12 weeks. Our next HMs aren't until April:( So far away.

    So excited for you!!! Impressive long runs when you thought you weren't getting the mileage in. You're ready to go!

I have a HM on march 17 and I'll be running along the Mississippi river!

    Woo-hoo I knew you would find something! And 8 weeks is no sweat with your current LSR at 8. Missing two weeks is nothing -you're good to move forward with plenty of time to ease the mileage up. March 25 is my next HM (RnR Dallas). I'm rotating 8, 10 and 12 miles until then (with shorter races mixed in). You rock, girl. You're going to get that goal time!

    I have no doubt you will kill it!! You are in such great shape that a HM in 8 weeks will be a piece of cake! That's really neat that it crosses the Mississippi. I've driven back east but I don't actually remember if I've ever really seen the Mississippi. That's unAmerican I think!! I'm looking foward to your updates!
