I'm still in my organizing and clearing out mode here. Woke up to cold drizzle coating all of the trees and the roadways. I'm really glad to be retired on days like this. But it won't stop my journey to be fitter!
I am trying to be more conscious about eating to fuel my workout this week. I'm normally coming in a bit carb and calorie short, says the Nutrition Tracker here on SP. And so this morning I am eating toast and some grapes and berries (and blogging here!) BEFORE I go and run. I am not aware of feeling ravenous after the normal morning treadmill run, but I do tend to hit a wall of some sort. It may simply be mind games.
I run longer if I run and watch TV or have my .mp3 player loaded with good music. I know, everyone says treadmill running is boring, and I admit, it is. And I am an easily-bored personality. So when I hit 30 minutes' time, ANY distraction, no matter how minor, gives me reason to quit. The other night I was definitely just sneaking a quick jog in, but this morning, I want to see just how far I can go if I have eaten something, and don't have an appointment to rush off to. We'll call this a "long run experiment" -- since I have never really been good at doing any sort of long run, other than that fluke 5K that I finished because, well, otherwise someone would've had to come looking for me!
These days, I feel a little bit achy and sore when I HAVEN'T done my workout. So I guess that's one motivation for continuing to get out there and move! I found a great discussion thread over on the Fitness and Exercise message board, with ideas on what keeps us motivated when the pounds don't seem to be going away. Sorry, I should link to it but I can't find a link just at the moment. If you need it let me know in the comments and I'll hunt it up!
