Well, another week down and I am seeing progress. I still do not have a working computer at home, but there is a light at the end of that tunnel. I was clearing out my files, and I found a service contract for the computer, and it is still valid! I NEVER buy extended service contracts, so I completely forgot about it. It’s from Sam’s Club, and if the computer can’t be fixed, they are supposed to replace it. So, hopefully I’ll have a fixed or new computer within a month.
I am down another 1.4 lbs, yeah! I also had blood work done and my cholesterol and blood sugar levels are great.
The past week was a very hectic one for me. My friend moved in and will be renting a room from us. He was originally going to move in on Feb. 1st, but he found out the utilities where he was staying were going to be shut off on the 18th. He was not happy, especially since he found out on the 11th. So, instead of being able to go leisurely through everything and get rid of stuff that was broken/old/outdated, I helped him scramble to pack up his stuff and haul it to our place. Then, I had to get the spare room ready for him. It was being used as a storage and catch all room, so I was planning to reorganize it. Add in the regular chores I had plus “spring cleaning” of my files, and I am one pooped puppy. My friend moving in has given me a bonus. He has decided to be my work out buddy, and he wants help to eat healthier and to lose weight. Once my computer situation is resolved, I am hoping to get him signed up with SP. I have my fingers crossed.
I have signed up for the Great Aloha Run. It is a Charity event that has become a President’s Day tradition here. You can walk or run, and it is probably close to the Honolulu Marathon when it comes to participation. One of my Hawaii Sparkers Team mates brought up the subject in October. I was excited at the time, but I changed my mind about doing it when I realized how far I had back stepped in my efforts. Then, last weekend, while I was proof reading my last blog, I realized I was giving up with out even trying, and I wasn’t going past my comfort zone. I immediately went to the GAR website and signed up. It is just over 8 miles, so I have started walking in the morning and in the evening. This past week I walked a total of just over 16.5 miles in three days. My body is feeling it, but I’d rather deal with it now and build up my stamina, than suffer on race day. I have Friday, Saturday, and Sunday to “rest” at work.
I am starting to get excited again, and I am hoping to keep that momentum going with out over doing or becoming overwhelmed. I have a habit of “biting off more than I can chew”. I already have a list of “goals” I want to add on to next month. I tell myself daily, take my time and take it in steps. I had half talked my self into adding one more thing last week, since I am “in training”. I had to stop and take a “time out” and really think things through. I decided to increase the amount of time I spend walking on my days off, thus am and pm walks, instead of struggling to fit something in on my working days like I was gung ho to do.
Thanks to all of you who have sent me encouragement and taken the time to read and comment on my blog. I can’t express eloquently enough how much it means to me. Until next week. Marni
