Southampton

Wednesday, January 18, 2012

It was dark and dismal and raining at 7.45am this morning, but at least it was much warmer. I wish the weather would make its mind up!
We picked my friend Dale up at 11am and went by car to Southampton! She wanted to go to Ikea to look at the kitchen units! We got there at 11.30am and walked around looking for the drawer units she wanted. We eventually found them! I told her it would be a long way to walk! Luckily there were chairs around to sit on! She finds it very difficult to walk! While we were looking for the units we found a lovely Wooden trolley style Island for the middle of the kitchen, just the right size as hers is quite small and she said she could use it in the dining room too. It was a real bargain at 35. Nice and strong with 2 wheels at the front.

Dale needed to sit down so she bought us a nice, but naughty lunch! She and I had oven baked fish and chips with peas and Adrian had the Swedish meatballs with chips. We sat for about half an hour then we went in the lift down to the next floor.

Dale wanted to see the rugs and we found those through the short cut with help from one of the staff. A blue one with flowers on caught her eye! That's on her wish list! LOL! We left her sitting near the lift and went off in search of silicone cake moulds.

We saw a nice fish frying pan that's on my wish list, but it was 32. Didn''t get the silicone fairy cake moulds for the Halogen as they were on display but out of stock! Rats!

Went down to the ground floor and pick up point to get the trolley. Dale sat on a seat while we searched for it. Had to look on the computer to find where it was situated. It was a long way to walk and we eventually found it back near the lift we had originally come from. It says there are almost 5,000 solar panels on the roof, so you can tell how big an area it is. We have 11 on our roof at home! They are doing SOME good for the environment and proud of it!
Before we left we looked round the sale area, but didn't find much there except a nest of Japanese style occasional tables for 19 that we would have liked! They were reduced from 80 which was very good.

Got back in the car at 3pm and headed for home. Dropped of the trolley at Dale's bungalow and then took her to her B & B. After that we stopped off to do some shopping. It was nice not having to carry the 8 pints of milk and shopping up the hill and on the bus!

I hope you had a pedometer on girlfriend as you surely would've done your 10K steps for the day, eh. emoticon
Oven baked fish and chips .. cool, but can't understand why you had peas with that meal. Here in OZ, fish and chips is just that .. fish and chips. Seems strange adding peas is all. emoticon
Loved reading about your day at Southampton with Dale and Adrian. I am glad you made it thru Ikea OK. Big place, eh. emoticon
Great blog, and thanks for sharing. emoticon
