It's a gray foggy day here in Coastal Maine but I know the sun is up there just waiting for it's chance. SPRING! They say we are going to get MORE snow, but it won't stay long. My Mom use to say she could "smell mud" so knew spring was just around the corner. From a very young age I recognized that smell and now that Mom is gone Spring just makes me think of her even more. Then there was the "bet" she and my Grampy had every year on when the peepers in the bog would first sing. When Grampy died a few of us got in on the bet with her. The April before she died they sang on the very night she had picked and we helped her get outside so she could hear them loud and clear. 2 months later she went "home".
See what this time of year does to me?! :) Good memories though and I cherish them. My Dad sits here reading the paper as I type, happy and thankful for his 3 kids that love having him stay with them, and we are thankful for him.
The other thing that comes to mind when I realize Spring is just around the corner is SHORT SLEEVES! YIKES! Do I dare? Well, I certainly don't have arms worthy of showing off, but I know I'm working on it, so don't mind so much that there is still a bit of floppiness there! (ok, more than a bit!) It just feels good knowing that I'm already on track losing weight, getting fit instead of thinking "Oh No, it's almost bathing suit season and look at me!" Then getting so discouraged I don't bother to do anything.
So ... come on Spring! I'm ready.
