I've been reading and studying about nutrition since I joined sparkpeople a few months back. Last week I started banishing vegetable oils and added sugar from the foods I eat. I added more veggies less carbs and way more fat than I normally eat and I feel so much better. Food allergies have just about driven me bonkers the last year. Wheat, gluten, chicken, turkey, swiss cheese, barley, peanuts. I tried banishing all of them somewhat successfully but the bread substitutes just made things worse. The gluten free foods sometimes didn't sit well with my digestion and I was always HUNGRY. Itchy skin was driving me mad and scabby spots on my eyelids and face had me using a prescription cream to deal with the eczema. Dermatologist said it was from the food allergies. The bags under my eyes made me look older and more tired than normal and I was tired all the time. I read the book Wheat Belly, and Michael Pollen book In Defense of Food again and decided to dump all the processed foods, extra sugar, and vegetable oils. Well after 1 week I can truly say I feel much better. The spots on the eyelids gone others on face smaller, eczema on fronts of legs diminished not gone but smaller, itching much less. I'm sleeping better and I've lost 1.5 inches in my waist. I'm not hungry and I feel so much better. I'll keep you posted.
