2 Year, Low-Key Anniversary

Monday, January 16, 2012

Today was Jon's and my 2nd anniversary. However, not much of it was spent together. Although Jon miraculously had the day off work, I went on a hike with a friend, came home for an hour, and then headed off to a meeting that lasted about 3 hours. One of the reasons Jon and I work, though, is because he supports everything I do. He understands the importance of my exercise and of the volunteer work I do, as well as my educational and professional goals, even if it means he has to miss out on time with me. I suppose the trade-off is his 8-month deployments.

When I got home, however, we made leftover chicken tacos, snuggled on the couch under a blanket, and watched tv together. Nothing spectacular, but it was us. Right down to the sesame street plates we were eating off of. This man is so perfect for me and I am so lucky to share my life with him. Tomorrow we are going to spend some quality time together, but neither of us feels the need to impress the other with extravagant gifts or expensive dinners. We know that we love one another and we show it in everything we do, even when we're apart. All in all, it was a great day. :-)

Sounds like you have found a keeper!
My dear husband of 43 years (we were teenagers when we 'had to' get married) usually don't do much for anniversaries, either.
We celebrate our love every day.
