New Year, New Me

Sunday, January 15, 2012

Well this week I have certainly kept one of my New Year's resolutions for 2012: be more aware of what I put in my body (mostly in relation to food, but other things matter, too, such as alcohol). I didn't use the Nutrition Tracker every day, but I did think about each and every bite I put into my mouth. When I was making a bad choice, it was consciously made. When I was trying my best to be healthy, it was mentally noted. I think that is a great start to changing my eating habits permanently.

I also managed to exercise for at least 30 minutes every other day from Sunday, January 8 through Thursday, January 12, so I got in 90 full minutes. Next week, I hope to do better, and even better the week after that. I want for exercise to become a habit, not just so I can lose weight & inches, but so I can live a long, healthy life. My goal is to be around long enough to see at least one great grandchild born. I'm only 30 now, and my son is 8, so that is a long way off. I just don't want to die before age 65 like both of my grandmothers did. They never got to see any of their great grandchildren, and I think it's a shame.

Next week, my goals are to exercise at least 30 minutes a day for 4 out of 7 days and find a way to consume less than 1400 calories, as that is what I have been tracking at. Maybe if I can do those two things, I will start to see some good progress towards my long-term goals (such as the goal to get into the 130s range). Tomorrow morning is my weekly weigh in. Last Monday morning, I weighed in at 171.9. *fingers crossed* I would love to see a lower number, but I'm not giving up if I don't see it quite yet. emoticon
